The Sri Lanka Retailers’ Association (SLRA) was founded 3 years ago in October 2015 under the leadership of Mr. Hussain Sadique, Group Director of Hameedia and the assistance of Mr. Leonard Perera, Founder Convenor and Head of Business of SLRA connecting with leading Businessman and Professionals of Top Corporates to form the Apex body in Retailing which was a much needed requisite for the Retail industry. It was a challenge in the beginning to bring in diverse stakeholders from Retail industry into one platform to form the Retailers’ Association and working together for a common purpose as the ‘Voice of Retail’ in Sri Lanka. It was a successful endeavor in the end and now SLRA is the largest Retail-network in the country with Membership comprising of leading companies represented from diverse sectors in the Retail industry. SLRA was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in June 2016, and operates under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce as the SLRA Secretariat since September 2016.

SLRA embarked and held its flagship Annual event, Sri Lanka Retail Forum in 2017 & 2018, Colombo International Shopping Festival (CISF) in October 2018 towards making Sri Lanka a Retail hub and attractive Shopping destination in the Southeast Asian Region, Colombo Christmas street in December, 2016 & 2017 and launched its Retail Academy towards building capacity of Retail professionals which were the main activities in the journey thus far.
