At the Sri Lanka Retailers’ Association (SLRA), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is more than just a concept — it’s a core part of our mission. We are committed to fostering a responsible, inclusive, and sustainable retail ecosystem in Sri Lanka. Sustainability & Environment

SLRA promotes eco-conscious retail practices among its members by encouraging the reduction of single-use plastics, supporting zero-waste packaging, and driving awareness on sustainable product sourcing. Many of our member companies have adopted in-store recycling programs, energy-efficient operations, and green logistics as part of their sustainability goals.

Education & Skills Development

We believe education and training are key to building a stronger retail workforce. SLRA has partnered with the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) to introduce the Advanced Certificate in Retail Leadership Development, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka.

SLRA members actively contribute to the well-being of local communities through outreach programs, donations, and volunteerism. From disaster relief to rural development, our community initiatives are driven by compassion and purpose.

SLRA encourages retailers to go beyond business by celebrating and promoting impactful CSR efforts. We support our members in applying for regional and global CSR awards, including the Asia Pacific Retailers CSR Awards.

Upcoming CSR Events

Retailers Give Blood – Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign

SLRA is partnering with the National Blood Transfusion Service for a life-saving CSR campaign. Member organizations are encouraged to host or participate in mobile blood donation camps.

Retail Training for Youth

A one-day career development workshop for school leavers and unemployed youth interested in retail careers. Includes retail skills coaching, mock interviews, and live demonstrations.

Retail for Education | Back-to-School Drive

An SLRA-led initiative to donate 5,000 school packs to underserved children across Sri Lanka in collaboration with member retailers and local NGOs.

Green Retail Day 2025

A nationwide environmental awareness campaign hosted by SLRA to promote eco-friendly retail practices and reduce plastic usage in the sector. Includes clean-up drives, reusable product showcases, and a sustainability pledge by members.
